About the Award

The National Exemplary Handbell/Handchimes Award was established to recognize school music curriculums that include handbells and handchimes as part of their instructional program in performance and general music. AGEHR has sponsored this award program since 1988.

The criteria are structured to recognize handbell/handchime programs that have developed a course of study, syllabus, goals, and objectives. Programs at all levels of education are eligible including colleges and universities. Schools that have previously received this award are eligible for endorsement as past recipients.

The recipient of the Handbell Exemplary Award for the 2006-2007 school-year is Concordia University Wisconsin.  For more information about the handbell programs there, see the article in the March/April issue of Overtones.

Applications for the 2007-08 school year award are available now. Application Packet
